Rocking is a fun activity that plays an important role in children’s motor development and body awareness.

Different outdoor play structures can be used for this activity : various types of swings, oscillating components or springers.

This exercise requires motor coordination of the entire body. To create the movement, children need to coordinate their arms, legs and gaze.

On a swing, after establishing a continuous and stable rocking motion, children can then work towards increasing their height with each swing. On a springer, children need to learn how to control and anticipate its movements to achieve better oscillation.

Rocking is a source of pleasure and fun for children. Gentle rocking is soothing for children with autism.
