Parsley Bay Reserve Playground

Parsley Bay Reserve Playground

The project brief was to provide play equipment that offers challenging, imaginative and social play opportunities for children aged 2 to 12 years old and that is inclusive for children of all physical and intellectual abilities. The brief was also to design a playground that would allow and encourage children to connect with the natural environment.

The result is a playground design that creates a world of fun for children of all ages and abilities whilst harmoniously integrating into the surrounding environment of Parsley Bay Reserve.

  • Fun for younger children:

The playspace includes our Inclusive and accessible Diabolo Multiplay unit (J38118-C) featuring a wide variety of playful elements for younger children aged 2 to 8 years. The Adventure Trawler (custom J1956) includes custom graphics to provide a play-replica of the Kainan Maru ship that was part of the Japanese Antarctic Expedition of 1910–12. The play equipment provides a link to local history, encourages imagination and is equipped with numerous play activities for motor skills development. Other play equipment includes the Inclusive Roundabout (J2409), Double Bay Swing set with inclusive Pod Swing, toddler and flat seats (J496), the inclusive Dolphin Springer (J981) and Seahorse Springer (J854).

  • Fun for older children:

Our Kanopé Bushwalk Multiplay (J5609) is an adventure trail with curved lines, organic shapes and colours of a woodland world in motion that gets children into fun and active play. The Ixo Multiplay (J2535-M) includes opportunities for climbing, sliding and creative play for older children and pre-teens, whilst the Balance Slackline (J5406-M) is a great addition to test children’s balance and encourage perseverance. Even adults want to give it a try!

Along with the accessible pathways and safety surfacing, a variety of seating options and sandstone sculptures included in the playground, the Woollahra Municipal Council has provided a wonderful play facility for the whole community. The NSW Government contributed funding from the Everyone Can Play Grant Program to this project.
