Site: Manson Oval Playground, 40 Sargent Parade, Bellevue Heights, South Australia
Client: City of Mitcham
Age Range: from 1 year old
Year: 2022

In the playground renewal at Manson Oval, the City of Mitcham wanted to provide new play equipment for children of a wider range of ages and abilities. Surrounded by existing trees, the playground incorporates a natural colour palette that complements the parkland setting. The new playspace, designed by Proludic, features innovative and durable play equipment including an Australian Ka’Yop Tree, a Diabolo Baby Multiplay, and more fun equipment with inclusive play features.

Ka’Yop Dynamic Tree

Specially designed with a colour palette complementary to Australian landscapes, the “Grey Gum” Ka’Yop Dynamic Tree (special J56002) engages children from 3 years old into fun and active play.

The Ka’Yop Dynamic Tree is packed with fun and challenging motor activities such as sliding, climbing and gliding where children develop their physical skills in fun and dynamic ways. The Ka’Yop unit also includes a “random challenges” play panel to encourage group social play, and suspended seats for quiet play. The Ka’Yop Dynamic features up to 15 playful activities that can accommodate 29 children at once.

By choosing a Ka’Yop Tree for their playspace, the City of Mitcham contributed to the planting of 25 native trees in Australia!

Diabolo Baby Multiplay

Designed for very young children, our award-winning Diabolo Baby playground equipment encourages early learning and guides children through a sequence of activities that stimulate their motor and fine motor skills. Play opportunities include sliding, climbing, crawling, handling and more. The Multiplay unit (J38706-C) was provided with the “oak-effect” finish to suit the playground’s natural colour scheme.

Other play equipment

The playground includes more dynamic and inclusive pieces of play equipment that provide for motor skills development, sensory stimulation and social interactions:

  • With the Inclusive Roundabout (J2409) everyone can enjoy the sensation of speed and rotating motion. There is room for a child using a wheelchair to play alongside friends that are sitting or standing.
  • In-ground playground trampolines are fun and easy to use. With the Proludic Round Trampoline (R34-ETP-010) children can sit on the mat and bounce gently, or jump up high and reach for the sky!
  • The custom Kanopé Swing set (special J433-C) includes a variety of seats to suit children of different ages who can all enjoy swinging movements together. The large and accessible Pod seat has room for several children to swing together; or a child may rock gently, alone or with a friend or carer. The Kanopé swing was selected in the “oak-effect” finish to complement the Ka’Yop Tree and the overall natural theme.
  • Springers are a must-have for young children’s playgrounds. The Snake (J820) and Marguerite the Cow (J844), help children develop balance, coordination and imagination.

Landscaping with rocks, balancing logs and plantings of native grasses/ground covers complements the natural setting of the playground. With the provision of a new picnic setting, new seating and an automatic barbecue, Manson Oval Playground is a lovely place to spend a day out with family and friends.
