Creating playgrounds that welcome children of all ages and abilities is at the heart of great community design. At Parc Suzanne Lenglen in Paris, an ageing play space has been transformed into a vibrant destination that encourages exploration, physical activity, and inclusive play.
Designed to maximise the available space, the playground offers a wide variety of play experiences while ensuring accessibility for children of different ages and abilities. Located within a popular community park used by local families, schools and sporting groups, the redevelopment has created an engaging environment where children can play, learn and connect together.
The main play area features two impressive multi-play structures designed for children aged three years and over. One combines towering play structures with exciting tube slides and interactive play panels, while the other showcases Proludic’s Kanopé range, featuring towers over seven metres high connected by elevated tunnels, climbing challenges and twin enclosed tube slides that deliver excitement and adventure.
A diverse selection of additional play equipment further enhances the experience. An inclusive in-ground trampoline enables children using wheelchairs to participate alongside their peers, while an innovative multi-user swing offers a combination of traditional seats, a toddler seat and a group nest swing to encourage shared play. An embankment slide, spinning play equipment and an ACTI’Ninja obstacle course provide opportunities to develop balance, coordination, strength and confidence.
The playground’s custom-designed colourful safety surfacing adds visual appeal while creating a comfortable and safe environment for active play.
A second play zone has been specifically designed for younger children, featuring an accessible multi-play unit with low-level activities and a smaller slide to support early exploration in a safe and welcoming setting.
The result is a contemporary community playground that caters for a wide range of ages and abilities, encouraging inclusive play, physical activity and social interaction. It demonstrates how thoughtful playground design can transform public spaces into destinations where children, families and the wider community can come together.
