The 2025 upgrade of CC Hood Reserve Playground has transformed the reserve into a vibrant, inclusive community destination for Adelaide’s southern suburbs. Delivered as part of a broader redevelopment, the project showcases Proludic’s expertise in designing high-quality play and recreation spaces that support connection, movement and meaningful play experiences.
A destination designed for everyone
The centrepiece Kanopé multi-level play tower anchors the playground and creates a strong visual identity for the space. Designed to encourage active, exploratory play, it offers multiple access points, varied climbing routes and elevated play experiences that challenge children physically while supporting confidence-building and skill development. Slides, platforms and monkey bars are arranged to promote flow. Choice and repeat play, allowing children to navigate the structure in different ways each time they visit. The scale and layout of the tower support both independent play and social interaction, making it a focal point for shared adventure within the playground.
A metal cableway flying fox uses the site’s natural slope, providing high-energy movement while integrating seamlessly into the landscape.
Sand play adds endless opportunities for imaginative and sensory fun. The sand factory invites children to scoop, sieve, and transport sand. It fosters collaboration, creativity, and shared adventures. Beyond imaginative play, it provides rich sensory experiences that engage touch, coordination, and problem-solving. Children can explore textures, practice fine motor skills, and develop spatial awareness in a hands-on, joyful way.
A standout feature is the custom pink swing set, which has quickly become a favourite among visitors. It includes two toddler seats, two flat seats, and a pod swing, offering fun for children of diverse abilities. Complementing this is the purple rubber surfacing, adding a vibrant, playful touch while ensuring safety and accessibility.
Inclusive by design
Designed with children of diverse abilities in mind, the playground supports shared play experiences and social connection. The inclusive roundabout allows children with varying mobility needs to enjoy movement play together, encouraging cooperative and social play.
Accessible pathways provide clear, independent movement between play zones across the site. Steppers and varied climbing challenges introduce graduated levels of difficulty, giving children the freedom to choose how they play and build confidence at their own pace.
Every element has been carefully selected to promote independence, choice and engagement, ensuring the play space feels welcoming, intuitive and enjoyable for a wide range of users.
Beyond the playground
The wider reserve redevelopment complements the playground with spaces that encourage longer visits and community connection. Shaded picnic areas, nearby amenities and open recreation zones create welcoming spaces for families to gather. Surrounding paths and landscaping improve accessibility and movement throughout the site. Together, these elements help position the playground as a central feature within a well-connected community destination.
Thoughtful construction and lasting quality
Proludic’s turnkey delivery approach ensured a seamless project from site preparation through to installation. Detailed earthworks, drainage solutions, certified surfacing, concrete paths, and natural rock and log edging were delivered with longevity, safety, and usability in mind. Solar lighting, paved connections, and a tree-lined walkway improve accessibility and comfort. Turf, mulch, and rubber surfacing provide year-round durability.
