In 2018, the playground underwent a major upgrade to make it more accessible and inclusive. The enhancements included new inclusive play equipment items, sensory materials and sculptures, new planting, as well as enhancements to the path network and site amenity block.

From 2016-2018, Proludic worked with Council’s landscape architectural team at the design and community consultation stages to help Council design a layout with high quality Proludic play items that could be used by children and carers of many ages and abilities.

Proludic’s construction management and installation team worked closely with Council’s appointed landscape contractor (Regal Innovations) to deliver the playground within the allocated timeframe and budget.

The Proludic play equipment includes the inclusively designed Vivarea Multi Play J33111 catering for children from 2 years old. Accessiblity for children with reduced motor skills is encouraged by the presence of a ground platform with handles to facilitate easy transfer, a large platform allowing children and carers to get to the heart of the play action and a wide, secure staircase with solid fencing. Play activities located inside and outside the structure help children to develop fine motor skills, cognitive skills and provide them with sensory stimulation.

Proludic provided additional inclusive and sensory play equipment for younger children including the Bungalow Playhouse, musical Rainbow Harp R34-FIECOCH, Speed Gyro Carousel J2400 and Pod Swing J441. Other play equipment includes the Pyramid Net J4807 which provides a great challenge for balance and self-control to children aged 5 and over.

The Kidsafe National Playspace Design Awards are held every 2 years to recognise excellence and innovation in the provision of safe, creative playspaces across Australia. The Awards showcase the achievements of communities working with educators, designers and the playground industry in creating amazing play environments in public spaces, schools, and education and care services.

Nineteen leaders in playspace design across Australia have been recognised in the 2018 Awards announced at the Kidsafe Symposium held on 22 November at NSW Parliament House. Entries were judged by play and playground experts. The judges looked at safety, quality, innovation, shade, the fun factor and evidence of community consultation. Judges commented on the outstanding quality of entries. Nature play featured in designs with community consultation and safety being considered at a high standard.

The inspirational playspaces encourage healthy participation in recreational activities for children across the nation.

Golden Grove Playground Upgrade achieved a COMMENDED AWARD in the Public Playgrounds Category A < $500K.
